Symphoniker Hamburg

The Symphoniker Hamburg, founded by Ernst Markus in 1957, is one of the most popular orchestras of the Hanseatic city of Hamburg. After the opening of the Elbphilharmonie, the Symphoniker Hamburg became the residential orchestra of Hamburg’s renowned concert hall, the Laeiszhalle and started their first season with a new name and brand. At the beginning of the new season 2016/2017, Symphoniker Hamburg appear under a new simplified guise, launched through their new Corporate Design created by Peter Schmidt, Belliero & Zandée. This new identity communicates the professionalism and energy of its musicians, and extends across programmes, stationery, business cards, campaigns and signage.

Making a clear commitment to their home city, PSBZ adjusted the orchestras name to ‘Symphoniker Hamburg’ but without sacrificing continuity and coherence. The new name ‘Symphoniker Hamburg’ will be easier to use in international business and avoids misinterpretation previously associated with the typical american fast-food ‚hamburger’.
